Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. applesauce
  • 3 c. flour
  • 1/2 c. cocoa
  • 1 t. baking powder
  • 2 t. baking powder
  • 1 t. salt
  • 2 t. vanilla
  • 1/2 t. cloves
  • 1 t. cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Stir all ingredients together.
  2. Add hot water - approximately 1 cup if batter is stiff.
  3. Bake at 375 degrees for 50-60 minutes.
  • 1/2 c. shortening
